Boyzlife Tour at the Liverpool Philharmonic | Review

Lat night we headed to the Liverpool Philharmonic to watch the Boyzlife Old School Part Two Tour. For those that don’t already know, Boyzlife is made up of Kieth Duffy from Boyzone and Brian McFadden from Westlife, two of the biggest boy bands from the 90’s and 00’s who joined forces six years ago to create a new supergroup.

The night kicked off with two supporting acts, the first was Shab who along with her two incredible dancers created a buzz in the philharmonic and got people moving with her mix of dance and pop music including songs such as “Sexual” and “Serenity”. Shab was then followed by Aliens Don’t Ring Doorbells, a rock’n’roll band made up of an incredibly talented trio with lead singer, Adam King, originally from Liverpool, performing for his home city like never before. If you haven’t heard of Aliens don’t ring doorbells then I highly recommend you check them out as they were brilliant.

At 9pm, with everyone suitably warmed up and ready to party, Boyzlife hit the stage with some classics, which immediately saw the whole theatre take to their feet and dance and that’s pretty much how it then remained for the whole night.

The Boyzlife Old School Tour is advertised as a mix of old and new songs, however, I think they only performed one of their new ones which was perfect for me as I’m not familiar with the new Boyzlife material but was a huge Boyzone and Westlife fan back in the day and watching them perform all my old favourites was fantastic. The way Keith and Brain have combined their voices to cover all the tracks is seamless and even left me racking my brains as to which were Westlife originals and which were Boyzone ones, the two really do work well together.

Oh, and if, like me, the 90’s is your music era then you will love the throw back medley they have created in the middle which is like a whistle stop tour of 90’s boybands. The only question is will you be able to correctly guess them all in time?

The Boyzlife Tour is an amazing night. It is pure nostalgia, and allows you to indulge your 12 year old self in a way you never knew you needed to until now. It is guaranteed to have you singing, dancing and reminiscing all night long. Grab your tickets tickets for one of the remaining shows today.
