Summer is just around the corner and like most people I have started to search for plus size bikinis ready for my holidays (that we are yet to book) as well as trying to loose a few pounds with the shake challenge to boost my confidence for when I have to actually wear them. When it comes to bikinis I am very self conscious having had three children but for me a swimsuit makes me look even worse so I generally opt for bikinis (with shorts, sarongs or simply my towel over the top). I always start looking for bikinis early on as I struggle to find ones that fit as my chest is larger than my bottom and I like to look fashionable, be well supported, and to be able to swim without fear it might pop off! I also prefer to shop online, have them delivered and then try them on at home in private. I definitely recommend buying them this way but only if you know your bra size, if you don’t you can follow these tips to measure your bra size at home before you start ordering new bikinis if you want to avoid the awkward in store measuring and try on sessions.
Where are the best places to buy plus size bikinis?
Forever 21. offer a plus size and curve range as well as a non plus size bikini range and you can buy the tops and the bottoms separately making is so much easier to mix and match. For me this is perfect as my bottom half and top half are not the same size and finding a matching bikini can be a nightmare.
Forever 21 have some beautiful designs as well as some gorgeous wraps and dresses that can be worn over the bikinis to help boost confidence too.
Bravissimo Also have a beautiful range although they are a bit more expensive than Forever 21. I fell in love with the Zambia Bikini Halterneck from Bravissimo. It’s so stylish and cute but because its designed for the larger chest you know it will be secure and practical which is a huge bonus.
Lime Ricki have a gorgeous selection of swimwear in sizes XXS through to 4X so there is bound to be something for everyone. They have a number of one piece and two piece sets but I particularly like this tankini swimsuit which is the Vintage Tropical Double Cinch and you can either opt for the matching bottoms or mix it up with some coloured ones instead.
Boohoo have a wide selection of plus size swimwear that is really affordable. They have styles for everyone including swimsuits, bikinis and tankinis.
Amazon is a great place to find cheap plus size bikinis from brands you will recognise. I really like the Cleo by panache from figleaves. It’s practical and cute, summery with the touch of yellow and I just absolutely love it.
Bikinis, like lingerie, has changed over the decades meaning there is so much more choice available now than ever before. What are your favourite styles?
